I simply reject the entire notion that there are any sort of non-physical beings in existance. To me, souls are imaginary. To me, anything "spiritual" is simply a metaphore. Nothing in the universe is eternal, including the universe... everything is physical and it all gets recycled. Has anyone found solid evidence to the contrary?
From what I understand everything is forever just in different forms. Please correct me if Iām wrong.
You negate what you say when you say it all gets recycled. If nothing lasts forever where does it go?
One thing is certain, if there is anything existent that is immaterial, science could never detect it because it would exist outside the scope of the scientific method. So, anything immaterial will always remain a "guess". Or, perhaps, more accurately, a hope that something else beyond the material world exist.
The mind is the essence of physical beings.... The body is just the vehicle used to get the mind from place to place... So, the mind....
@dan325 maybe, maybe not. Can be deceiving when one getās drawn into consensus rather than constideration.
@dan325 of course it's a manifestation of the brain but it still exists as a non physical thing...also, of course damage to the brain affects it, but everything dies eventually...
@dan325 one day in the distant future, it may become possible to store the mind in a computer... AI technology is possible, is it not?
Of course you're right....
...but then there's "imagination" . The human mind's ability to consider the future is a blessing and a curse, IMO.
...many "pretend" to be "religious" or act "spiritual" simply because that's the socially acceptable "thing" right now.
Saying you're agnostic or atheist too often is labeled as being "too honest" or "brutally honest".
Hey, I can't respond to your pm for some reason... So, to answer your last question, yes...
@adaptable1958 that comment wasn't for you
I think metaphor is the best we have to describe indescribable things. We used to use the solar system model to describe atoms, now many people are aware of the quantum model so to a certain extent we can put it away.
