I recently went to a class on Electro Magnetic Smog. The speaker did not have a meter but said that all new lighting technologies were high emitters of EMF's. She went on to say we need to go back to incandescents. I have had a lengthy discussion about this with a member here who did have a meter and I looked it up. LED's have a low electromagnetic footprint and owing to the increased power needed for incandescents the EMF's from the lines make these lights emit even more. Never mind the fact that energy production for the older devices is very high and adds to the carbon footprint. Bottom line is we are looking at supposed (but often false) personal gains at the expense of the the community and even life on the planet. Sounds a bit selfish to me.

This dangerous myth persists because there are a number of people, mostly middle class and well heeled women in the USA who continue to support Andrew Wakefield and his claims, despite the fact that they have been disproved and he has been exposed as a charlatan. They post on the internet about how harmful the vaccines are and repeat the claims of connection to autism. They now have confused and muddied the water for many young parents who can’t decide whether to vaccinate their children or not, because naturally they are conflicted. The trouble is the internet peddles these lies and many parents believe them.
