I worked for the MOD ( Ministry of Defence) in the south of England in the exceptionally hot dry summer of 1976. I looked after training areas including heathland and forest. Early in the summer I caught a couple of young lads lighting fires and those fires burned all summer devastating thousands of acres. Just as is happening in Canada just now. It is so dry it is impossible to extinguish the fires.
