Hardly a punishment in my day. And parents couldn't really do anything about it.

These day, any kid is willing to be sent to their room... Until the parents remember to turn off the circuit breaker for the room.

Being sent to your room these days, with the power turned off, could be considered by many to be cruel and unusual punishment.

I remember being "punished " one time as a child of 7 or 8. Sent to my room. Read and drew for hours. One of the best nights I can think of.
