A quick check on the garden after the not-quite Tropical Storm, my shade-tunnel was fine, only one knot came loose. It seems only 2 of my 30 or so Dragonfruit flowers set, but there are more buds now! Another crop of cacao nearly ready and passionfruits any minute when they are yellow. A mystery green leafy plant, where I had planted amaranth, turns out not edible for humans, oh well.
I'm interested in your amaranth (that didn't come up?). I've been interested in the plant but as an ornamental. I have several little plants about an inch or two high but growing well. The variety is call Joseph's Coat because it is varigated with several colors (but why do they have to give them Bible names?). The seed package looked like the varigation would be most prominant as the top as the plant matured but these seedlings are fairly well varigated already. My question, however, is what does one do with Ameranth?
Nice. Any tips for growing Dragon fruit? My neighbor gave me a plant which has gotten pretty big but no sign of fruit so far. Do they produce all year long for you?
