This is the time of year when my little garden is still lush, and the trumpet vine that shades my bedroom window from southern sun is in full bloom. Each morning I step out of bed, pull back the darkening curtains, and see this!

Gorgeous vine and the color really pops.

Yes, and actual color is a more vivid orange/coral than the photo shows, so pretty!

That is the prettiest trumpet vine I have ever seen. Around here you may get one or two flowers and that's it.

They do quite well here, just covered with blossom, and the hummers love them!

I've always loved the flowers of trumpet vine, but it is so invasive here and control is about all you can do. I tried to control mine 35 years ago, now I just control the shoots with the lawn mower and the vine goes where it goes.

Oh, I pull PLENTY of shoots! This was planted by a previous homeowner, but I have since read they should be planted in a large pot instead of in the ground. Sounds reasonable to a point, as mine has a double trunk, each about 3" diameter and 6' tall before branching laterally. It just seems cruel to crowd a plant that large into limited root space.
