Pasqueflower - Pulsatilla
This is a cool flower. It looks strange when it first emerges and leaves a hairy head after the flower dies. It blooms in May and is a welcome sight when it does.

I think silky is better than hairy, they really are stroke-able, and so are the new leaves.

@Fernapple
This flower starts my excitement for the garden in the spring. I like all flowers but the early ones get my special attention.
Maybe I can find some silky photos to share with you.
Sometimes my mind goes somewhere else.
We are still talking about flowers, right?

@flower_nut We are still talking about flowers, yes. But I can go with silky anywhere I find it.

@Fernapple
Silky and a bit of hairy.

I need some in my garden.

@itsmedammit
It definitely makes a statement.

like that late fall hairdo

@btroje
It's hairy but not scary. I love it! We have a hairy clematis too.

@flower_nut there is a wild vine here in NM that the hairy aftermath is more exciting than the flowers

@btroje
That's awesome. I agree some flowers really suck so the aftermath would be the spotlight.
What can I say, I like them hairy!

Beautiful, I had red ones growing in my garden in Colorado.

OldGoat43 Level 9 Nov 14, 2018

@OldGoat43
I didn't know it came in a different colour. I'll be on the hunt come spring.
Thank you.

@flower_nut . I just double checked on Google and they have quite a few different colors shown there.

@OldGoat43
If I can find them local I'll pick up every colour they have. When the garden centres open in the spring I'll be looking for the Pasque flower and a few others to fill holes in the garden. It's not a very common plant so I may have to settle for what I have. I'll keep you posted!

What''s it's zone range? An annual??

@bigpawbullets
It's a USDA zone 5-9 and perennial for me. We are a comfortable Canadian gardening zone of 5 here in Nova Scotia. We've had it for several years and I love it.

@flower_nut
Thanks! I was too lazy to look it up. Might do well here in Southern Ohio. I like the looks of it.

@bigpawbullets
Your welcome.
I'm not sure how long we've had it. Never had any problems and it doesn't spread or seed everywhere. It would look great in small spaces.

I love the color

Me too! When I first saw this flower it looked like something from a different planet. The colour is awesome in our backyard fence garden.
