Japanese Herb Garden - I enjoy cooking Asian style foods, so I grow a lot of basil (several varieties), and peppers in the spring. I am slowly gonna add other things. This year I want to grow green onions also. Anyone else grow similar stuff?
I used to grow a nice garden till water got so expensive here that I couldn't afford the garden. When your water bill gets bigger than your electric bill it's time to stop gardening.
Or move .
@kenriley yes, it really does suck because I loved my raised bed garden. I grew herbs, tomatoes, squash, spinach, lettuce, onions, cucumbers, green beans, peas and radishes. I always had fixings for a lovely salad in the spring months. I miss the garden but couldn't afford the water bill that was regularly over 100 dollars a month!!
@Cast1es I'm looking into doing just that in the spring. Life is to short to live somewhere you are not happy.
This year, I had mostly basil, dill, mullein, kudzu, cherry tonatoes, blueberries, beauty berries, and some other herbs. I'll try to do better next year.
Thought kudzu was considered a very invasive weed vine .
@Cast1es The leaves are a frequent dish among some Asians, highly nutritious. The tender leaves are edible like baby spinach. The other leaves are juiceable. 30 minutes after all farmed greens are picked they loose half of their nutrition. The roots don't go down far enough to pick up vital minerals, too.
