Nice pics. Thanks for reminding me to get out to a conservatory, perhaps Lincoln Park. Conservatories are all over the place but don't get the press they deserve, or sometimes even the care (thinking of MKE's MItchell Park, which badly needs upgrading).
Were those taken recently ? I looked up the Olbrich Gardens they look wonderful, you are very lucky to be near such a beautiful garden.
I took them over the Holiday weekend. It was drab and snowy, so off we went to find somewhere warm and tropical.
Olbrich also has some beautiful outdoor gardens, and WI is full of green spaces. It's one of the reasons I gave up a sane climate for Winter. At least we are rewarded by gorgeous Springs and Summers
The red one is nice... The white one... Confusing lol
The white one (Alocasia) is consisted of a leaflike spathe that surrounds the central spadix or spike, where the true flowers are. This inflorescence type is a hallmark of the Arum Family (Araceae)
@Leafhead ok .. I understood a some of that ... I'm sure you're right tho LoL
@Cutiebeauty
I collected members of this family when I lived in South Florida. I belonged to the South Florida Aroid Society.
Aroids (members of Araceae) range anywhere from Elephant Ears to Philodendrons to Calla Lilies to the ever weird Corpse Flower. Lots of rare and unusual members in this family.
It is truly the Addams Family of plants.
