Daisies bursting out everywhere! They have started blooming, the first picture is in the flowerbed, next to the birdbath. The second is out in the middle of the parking, which means I have to mow carefully around them but I don't mind. I like how they look scattered through the lawn. I also have blanket flowers coming up in the lawn but they are several weeks from blooming yet.
I hated mowing my lawn last week because the dandelions and violets were in full bloom.
The fact was, the rest of the block was out mowing, and I felt the need to act or be singled out.
I did leave the Milkweeds in the side lawns and will feed these to my caterpillars first.
I have Milkweed 1' tall now, and a Monarch sighting on 5/17. I will harvest eggs and any larvae tomorrow AM. I have mature, blooming Zizzia aurea for the Black Swallowtail, and the leaves are ripe on the cherry for the Tigers. The stage is set. Now I just need a little sun and a south wind
I mow around wil flowers as well. Takes longer which causes more pollution, but I do it anyway.
I mow around Milkweed for now. The ones in the lawn will be fodder for future caterpillars until the Milkweed in my gardens are tall enough.
When the grass starts to tickle your knees is plenty soon enough to to think of mowing.
Ha ha! I love daisies. They are so simple and pure.
