But would you date a person who uses a wheelchair? Able-ism?
I have only had one opportunity to do this. And I would have dated him were it not for his parents enforcing teenage like rules on him to be home by dark, making dating with a night owl university student me at the time, in winter, near impossible.
I be honest, I could not say yes or no. It would depend on the person, just like anyone else one might date.
So long as he was un-theistic, funny, intelligent, kind, honest, a political progressive, open-minded, etc - all the usual things I would require in a date, yes. What is able-ism?
Ableism would be preferring people who are as able as you are, or discrimination against the differently abled.
@HippieChick58 Thanks. I didn't know that was an "ism" so you can tell how active I am kept by my dating life.
Sure.
I’m actually super attracted to a young colleague of mine who is an amputee that sometimes uses a chair, sometimes uses crutches, and sometimes uses a prosthesis. The problem is he discriminates against me because I happen to be a female.
I don't see why not. There could be some logistical challenges, but life IS a logistical challenge.
