Another passage from Gordon Livingston's book, Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart, Thirty True Things You Need to Know Now. The lesson seems to be twofold. 1) When it comes to the words "I love you," actions speak louder than words no matter how much you want the sentiment to be true. (Obviously IMHO). 2) Want what you have / seek reasonably as opposed to shutting yourself off for want of your absolute ideals.
I'm sorry is another one. Too many people say it but don't really mean it.
True observations. I have seen someone shut themselves off, yet I know what they really want. They send out more and more signals all the time, but try to respond and it a strong fight or flight response.
Love is one of the most opaque, ambiguous words in the English language...
I'd put Soul in that category too.
The words have to be backed up with actions first. Then they will have meaning. I didn't hear this from my mother until I was in my 30's but I knew it anyway.
I want what I don't have....and trying for less than ideal has given me FAR BELOW from ideal....
Too soon old, too late smart>
The only way around this one is to live longer. There are ways to extend life, but few will do it. The easiest is to take metformin, a Type II diabetes med, which extends the life of those who take it, whether or not you have diabetes. Another way is to lose weight and eat no more than 4:1 omega-6 : omega-3. Another way, reduce your calories to about 1/2 the RDA.
I've read they're taking metformin off the market , unexpected side effects .
If it's not real, do not let these words escape your mouth. Having said that, l say these words all the time, but in a platonic nature. Even platonic-ally, those words have special meaning.
I think the admonition here is that if you love, let your actions speak it not just your words. Been in a few relationships where they thought “I love you” was all that was needed.
@SaucyCheryl And/or manipulative .
