Mother of School shooter convicted on 4 counts of involuntary manslaughter
She knowing bought her 15 year old son a gun for Christmas after he was diagnosed mentally ill.
I agree with @HarrySlick below, that issue goes way beyond being just a thing with gun control. Sure are alot of deadbeat parents these days who don't know how to be a decent caring parent and do the right thing by their children. Takes a real moron to give a known mentally disturbed individual a weapon of any kind.
This is not entirely a gun control issue but a common sense issue .A responsible parent should never give a mentally ill child ANYTHING that has the potential in doing harm to another individual especially a firearm. Hopefully this is a wake up call to all other negligent parents who fail to secure all firearms in the home.
I saw some of her testimony and while she wasn't unrepentant or cavalier, I think some of that somber attitude is only because they're having to deal with these charges. Seeing some of the things he wrote - and he was clearly begging for help - it's hard to imagine they just blew him off like they did, let alone buying him a gun. wtf??? Which is good in that perhaps other parents will sit up and take notice as well.
Good. They bought their troubled teenage son a gun not thinking if it was appropriate
