I don't think you ever stop grieving losses of a partner or other losses like friends and pets. I think the intensity diminishes but the memories or moments do not. Memories are sometimes triggered by seeing a location where an event happened with the lost person or friend or pet.
My husband was ill for a while. He had a quad by-pass and he was diabetic. When he passed I had his remains cremated as he wished. I thought I was coming through it ok and I was driving home with his ashes. His favorite song, My Way, came on the radio. I had to pull the car over and stop. I had never been that emotional before. Talk about a trigger. ....and you are right. They are always there.
@AncientNight so sorry for your loss. Iām better now but it was a long time before I could talk to anyone about Jack. I would cry. The triggers are always there I guess.
It does change in intensity and frequency, I have PTSD and grief seems to be a lot like that
