I agree with the memory part but, for me, one has to stop living in the past and live for the present and the future. My late partner and I discussed this several times especially before she died. We don't live in Greece where the wife dresses in Black, mourns for the rest of her life and, if she has a son, uses him as a substitute mate (I know an American woman who is/was married to a Greek man and that very thing happened. We also don't live in India where the wife (why is it always the wife?) throws herself on the funeral pyre. I believe that if one truly loves another they want what's best for the other and that means going on with life and trying to gain happiness after I am gone. If I had died and thought she would cease lving a happy life I would be sooo pissed.
