Since I'm openly atheist people approach me with "I was sorry to hear of your husbands death". I can honestly say thank you.

Anyone tell you to "just get over it"? A pox on those kind of people.

@ProudMary The very worst was a phone conversation I had with a fellow professional. After my wife was struck down, he didn't offer condolences, he asked where I went to church. I said, "I don't". He said, "Well, maybe this is God's way of getting your attention". I'm glad that I was no where near this creep or had never met him in person. I would have probably assaulted him. So, God gets people's attention by striking down their loved ones with incurable brain tumors? Not any god I want anything to do with. Or people.

Almost as bad is "God will not give you a burden greater than you can bear" WTF? Does God sit up there with a slide-rule and sliding scale of JUST HOW MUCH misery he will put on a human without sending them over the edge? This is nasty stuff, but the common mindset of the Christian.

@GuyKeith , you are right on both counts. It's nasty stuff and the common mindset.

Even if they dont. I can read between the lines.
