Hello group, I haven't written here for a while as I've been so busy trying to make ends meet and keep my home. It appears that isn't going to happen now. I am close to having the probate/affidavit process done and the attorney told me she saw no reason why I couldn't put the house on the market. I've gone back and forth between wanting to sell and wanting to stay. From what I've been told, my feelings are normal. I was thinking I would buy an RV to live in and get myself a truck so if I wanted I could travel with the RV. After talking with both my son's I'm not so sure the RV life would be that much cheaper for me. They both pointed out to me the upkeep on an RV is never ending and when things break down, like the refrig or stove, they are very expensive to replace or repair. My youngest son just bought a new home with 5 bedrooms and he and his wife want me to move in with them. I've lived with them before when he was going through training to become a Fireman/Paramedic, so I know I get along with them quite well. The hard part has been going through all my stuff and figuring out what to sell, give away or just trash. I won't be able to take all my things with me, as my son has said I will have two rooms in the house that are mine. I'll have a small living room where I can keep my living room furniture and a bedroom where all my bedroom furniture will fit. The rest of my things need to go. Two other bedroom sets, a formal dining room set, a small dining set from the kitchen and then all the other stuff one has accumulated over the years. Not sure if I should just have a garage sale or advertise a moving sale. Any thoughts on what you would do in this situation would be appreciated.

We/I believe that often you don't own things they own you. When my partner was dying she asked to have all her things put up in a silent auction to benefit the local domestic violence awareness group. She told her kids if they wanted their memorabilia she would send it. She was happy with that and so was I. I am slowly getting rid of things as I don't want my daughter to have to deal with a lot of stuff. Minimalism is not a bad way to live especially when someone else is providing necessities.

I sympathize; I still have been unable to give away much of what Sonia left behind😞
