I'm curious, new to this place. I looked at chatroom options but so far even though they claim to be open, when I get there no one is active? I used AOL back in the day and loved playing verbally with sparring partners. please advise

Make a post in the relevant group that you will be in the chatroom and then wait and see if anyone shows up

The chat rooms tend to be most active in the evenings. Also if you hang out - you're more likely to pull folks in.
I believe the Singles Group still holds Trivia on Sunday nights sometime after 6 pm - you might want to check that out - as more people show up for events.
But certainly showing up in a chat is more apt to 'bait it' - to bring others in.
I run a chat 24/7 in Insomniacs - but really it's hit or miss for folks. We do sometimes chat there - but again it's when someone shows up and waits.
We are hoping for a tone alert to let people know when someone else arrives to chat.
