Due to no effort of my own, i have been made moderator of the group. Apparently I am the senior member.
I don't normally agree to moderating, but in this instance i want to.
I will be monitoring this group for trolls and assholes. Due to the rawness of our grief at times, I want this group to be safe. To feel safe. I won't have a single one of you being treated disrespectfully, if I can help it.
So, if I miss someone being an asshole, please send me a message.

Internet support groups were not really a thing yet then. But there were mail groups and similar mail list type groups. After he died, I couldn't sleep, and I spent my nights online searching for someone to tell me how the fuck was I going to go on living. I had 2 boys 13 and 5, so there was no question I would go on, but in the early days i couldn't even manage the thought of a parent-teacher conference. My mom was there for the first few weeks, but she had to go home.
I had to get my shit together at least enough to take care of my kids. Long story short, I did find a life line online and they helped me a brick at a time.
So, yes, these internet support groups for widowed people are very, very important. People who have suffered the loss of a partner need and deserve to have support. To help each other navigate the shark infested waters of this deep loss.
