Because it’s the 4th July I thought I’d post this piece of Americana by Aaron Copland that I love....Appalachian Spring (section 7) performed by The New York Philharmonic Orchestra conductor Leonard Bernstein. Hope you all have a great holiday! 🇺🇸

Always a favorite. Copeland was a great composer. A lot of his music was taken from shaker hymns.

Yes....they were. I love Fanfare For the Common Man.

@Marionville Funny about that one. I once bought a pair of small speakers and tried them out on this piece. It has great bass notes and the speakers worked well.
One of my favorite is "The Portrait of Lincoln"

There have been some amazing speakers but I choose this one because it is spoken by a black man. Fitting for Lincoln.

Written by an imigrant from Russia. ♡

Apart from Native Americans ...everyone has been an immigrant at some time, although Copland was actually born in Brooklyn, so was a son of Lithuanian immigrants. Most of the great American composers were either Jewish immigrants from Russia or Europe, or children of such immigrants.
