Ayam and Berkana
See link to entire performance in comments.
Super. I love it. Is this Chinese ballet? Or is it Russian Siberian close to China?
Ah, I see my questions answered. Welcome to the group.
The Evenki, Yakut, and similar Siberian peoples look rather Like Chinese, Korean, Tibetan, But have a culture that resembles our Native Americans and Eskimos. But their traditional languages are somewhat of a mix Turkic, Uralic, Aleut, Tungusic, Mongolian depending on the tribe. Of course, Russian is almost a universal language in the area since modern times.
YouTube was "watching" me! After I posted the above , this video popped up in my feed. It is almost the entire performance of "Ayam and Berkana the Hunter", an Evenki folktale.
Please feel free to share it in "Traditional and Folkmusic".
Interesting…thanks for posting, I don’t believe we’ve ever had Evenk music posted before.
I have a special interest in the peoples of Siberia and the Eurasian Steppe because of my ancestry.
Welcome to the group.
One of the ethnic tribes of the northern Russo/Sino region…the Evenki, like the Sami people in Scandinavian Lapland to the west, are traditionally reindeer herders I believe.
@Marionville Correct, The traces of Yakut and other "broadly Asian" genes are associated with the Seneca and Mohawk side of my family from my Mother.
