Back in the early days of the Rockabilly craze, Charlie Feather (Yes, he was a good part Cherokee) was good friends with some goody-two-shoes kid called Elvis (who was also part Cherokee) and they worked on their styles together. But it may have been because of Charlie's acknowledgement of his Native roots he was disfavored, and you know what happened to Elvis.
Wonderful rockabilly sound, is it possible Elvis's hip action was the real difference?
Leave it to you...
I think that hip movement certainly gave him a bump up the charts.
"Swivel hips"...could be.
The similarity in styles is striking!
They were BFFs.
This was my pop music, I love driving to it. Thanks, I never heard this before.
The song Good Rockin' Tonight
Elvis version ...
Feathers version ...
I know it from 1957 Cliff Richard, filled with girls screaming and the great Shadows.
Both versions are great.
and more Info on Charlie Feathers. If you like Elvis, you need to like Charlie Feathers because without him Elvis would have likely been very different ...and forgotten.

I was never into that type of music, but this guy sounded like an interesting fellow.
