We don’t often post anything from Turkey in the group, or ever for that matter, so today is a first I think. I’m featuring Tarkan Tevetoglu who is a popular singer/songwiter with a successful career since the early 90s. He was born in Germany to Turkish parents but who then moved back to Turkey with his family in 1986, aged 14. Tarkan. - Kedi Gibi (Like a Cat).

This is contemporary pop music..there will still be artists who perform more traditional Turkish music too. Western pop & rock music has influenced music everywhere around the world..faster than before because of satellite communications and the internet.
@Marionville Of course especially in more rural places. I was in a very rural place and even the young people (especially the young women) were sent to schools in more urban settings. The whole year I was there I only saw one young women. The rest were older women all with pantaloons (of course we had a name for those items of clothing. Don't ask me what they were).
