I thought I’d post something French today as my two guests from French choir Plena Voce will be arriving this evening and staying at my home for a few nights. Chants d’Auvergne or Songs of the Auvergne is a collection of folk songs from the Auvergne region of France which was collected and arranged for Soprano voice and orchestra or piano by Joseph Canteloube between 1923 & 1930. There are 27 songs in total which were published over 5 series, and are sung in the local Occitan dialect.
This is one of them and a favourite of mine…”Baliero” sung by Marianne Crebassa with ORF Symphony Orchestra in Vienna, 2019.

@puff I don’t think that would amuse them too much either! But seriously…they’ll be way too busy sightseeing, singing, and eating and drinking, to spend any time other than sleeping in my home! Luckily the weather forecast looks brilliant for visiting The Giants Causeway and the nearby Bushmills Whiskey Distillery on Saturday. Not always guaranteed in Northern Ireland, but strangely they have always enjoyed exceptionally good weather on their numerous visits over the years.
