This is another post I’m passing on from Roger which he sent me a couple of days ago but I’m only getting round to posting it today. It’s Scene de la Folie…a somewhat humorous piece which was written by French baroque composer Jean-Philippe Rambeau. The soloist is Patrucia Petibon (soprano) and Emmanuelle Hain conducts the orchestra,

…..apologies for the deiay in posting @RogerBenham

Well it would be refreshing if pop music lovers realised that some classical music is fun.

Lots of them do…many people are not just interested in one genre of music Roger they know that not all classical music is serious, there are many examples of fun in the comic operas for instance. Real music lovers can appreciate good, well written music in all categories. There are many interesting crossovers between the different kinds of music.

Btw…I was asked by Richard (@FrayedBear) to thank you for passing me the link to the above post….

@Marionville Please post this:

which version I have sung since I was a small boy.

You no doubt have always sung this version:

Many thanks,
Roger.

@rogerbenham I like neither version. The second performance I hope is a lesbian woke parody doing nothing for me other than making me cringe at the inferiority complex of the author of the lyrics.

@FrayedBear The first version was always in later years a raucous camp fire shout out. It has the advantage that though stuffed with Christian symbolism noone has a clue what it's all about other than the 7 stars in the sky (Ursa Major). Do you see them down under?

@rogerbenham I have posted both versions today as tequested…I have also posted a version I prefer by Dougie MacLean ….this one.

@rogerbenham never looked & yes I did notice the xtian leanings.

@Marionville Yes, I knew Dougie'ss of course. To me it is a totally different song and I love it.

I will…glad you enjoyed it…

@Marionville you are up late. Insomnia or out late partying?

@FrayedBear It’s not very late here …10.45pm…I don’t usually go to bed until around 12…

@Marionville my mistake, I'd forgotten that we're now in summertime so a 10½ hour difference. It was I think between 7 & 9 am when I posted.
