Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Official Music Video)
Of course first thing I noted was the Healy 3000, and in the 'only' color BRG. That was my dream car (had a little BRG Sprite instead). Still, a great song. Fortunately, not everyone wants to rule.
I had a BRG MGBGT but I could have and nearly did buy a Jensen Healey. That was ridiculously fast! Probably would have killed myself in it. A cop on the Brighton road told me that they'd had a trial one and they knew none of their cars could catch it.
@rogerbenham Never heard of the Jensen-Healy so looked it up. 2.0 liter engine with 144 bhp. I would seriously worry about an engine like that lasting.
I actually bought a MGBGT. It had all the bells and whistles (including wire wheels). It was priced around $4,200 and that was 1967 so a lot. Unfortunately, the day before picking it up I got a draft notice. The dealer said he would have no problem selling it. My car at the time was a timid Triumph Herald.
@JackPedigo I loved my B. Most comfortable distance driving I ever had. Drove from Knutsford to Milan via Neuschvansteien and Vienna (1200 miles) in one go in '74.
@rogerbenham I used to drive from Heidelberg to London all the time. With my Sprite went from the East coast to Dallas which is over 2,000 miles. On the return trip I had an accident which put me in a hospital 9 months. I hit a hidden drainage bunker off the highway. I then rolled out of the car with my back turned and when a passer-by came along the first thing I ask was how does my car look. He said other than a flat tire it looked fine. Unfortunately the frame was bent.
That was my favorite driving-to-work song, cranked up loud with the windows open. Thanks for the memory, Rogerbenham.
