Oumuamua - the first known Interstellar traveller - amazing that we know this much about stars in our local galaxy to be able to pinpoint 4 stars from which this visitor likely came. Rock is still a little creepy to me ?
Interestingly, we're seeing the beginnings of Hawaiian-named celestial objects - to join with so many others of earlier discovered and named objects - including hordes of those with Arabic origins. It's unfortunate that astronomers seem to be opposed to the exercise of rights of Hawaiian cultural practitioners (my opinion) instead of working with them. Its a complex history and story that includes the "Overthrow" of the government of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893!
It's only relatively recently that we've developed the ability to observe such events. Who knows how many times our planet has been bypassed? And clearly, not all succeed in missing us, either! It's a helluva lot easier to analyze objects that emit photons (stars) as opposed to those that reflect them (albeit, very poorly).
