Mark Twain was an amazing guy but did you know he was born and died during the years of two visits of Halley's comet?

A full-length movie about Twain started and ended with mentions of Halley’s comet, first when Twain was born and again when he died. I saw the movie decades ago, maybe in the 1940s or 1950s.

Halley's Comet appeared in the sky when Mark Twain was born in 1835. The comet moves in a seventy-five or seventy-six-year orbit, and, as it neared Earth once again, Twain said,

I came in with Halley's Comet... It is coming again ... and I expect to go out with it... The Almighty has said, no doubt: 'Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.'

Sure enough, he died on April 21, 1910, just as the comet made its next pass within sight of Earth.

Wow, 75 or 76 years. I was close but that only counts in horseshoes. LOL Maybe it is the planet Uranus. Something rotates around the sun in 88 years. Thank all f sharing.

@AntaresRose A year on Mercury lasts 88 Earth days.Because of Mercury’s slow rotation (once every 58.646 days) and its rapid orbital speed (47.362 km/s), one day on Mercury actually works out to 175.96 Earth days. So their days are almost 2 of their years long.

I think that Haley's comet comes once every 88 years. I will check though.
