Years ago, sometime in the 1980's I looked for Pluto with an 8 inch telescope. I actually found the object after some star hopping in about 10 minutes. It was the most difficult object that I ever sighted, barely visible in that scope, a faint pinprick of light. Since then Pluto has moved farther from the Earth and would be harder to locate in a scope that size because of being even fainter now.
Kudo to you for finding it though! I didn't have even that big of a scope, so the farthest I have found was Saturn, which one can find with the naked eye, so not a big deal!
@Hathacat Uranus is visible to the naked eye if your eyes are really good and you know where to look for it. both Uranus and Neptune are visible in good binos, 10X or better. Again, ya gotta know where to look. maps available at Sky & Telescope.com
@starwatcher-al I remember when I could see all the stars in the Pleiades cluster and now it's a blob.
@Hathacat Yeah, I get 6 but some people have seen a dozen. fantastic eyes they have.
