In the catholic religion when a woman gives birth she has to go through a ceremony called candelling.. not sure if I spelled that right. This ceremony purifies her because the act of giving birth is dirty. Ho hum. She is not allowed to visit family or anyone until the ceremony is complete. Hahaha. Talk about control.
