In any case, here's hoping we are nearing the final nails in the coffin of Catholicism, and of religion in general.

Catholicism unlike most religions and denominations insists on celibacy for it's celebrants and clergy.
This in itself is not unique, however Catholics thrive on sin, sin and the atonement for sin are the life blood of the church.
Not only must a Catholic priest, monk, nun or curate be celibate, they must not masturbate it is a sin, they must not indulge in homosexuality, it is a sin, they must not have involuntary emissions, it is a sin, they must not even desire sexual release, it is a sin, they must not lust, it is a sin they must be pure in act, word, thought and deed, to do otherwise is a sin.
The pressure on catholic clergy is tremendous, how ever they are also command to follow in the ways of Christ, to love Christ, to act as the representative of Christ and ultimately this imitation of Christ stumbles upon Luke 18:16 and Matthew 19:14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
combine this with
Matthew 25:40-45
Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
and a warped mind and sexually frustrated body finds a twisted justification for "loving" children in order to love god.
After a few decades of the church covering up and forgiving these "indiscretions" the perverts begin to see that the only way to live such a depraved life and remain safe is to join the church, in short freedom to indulge paedophilia becomes a unique selling point for recruiting priests in to the RC.
A twisted evil doctrine in a twisted evil organisation will attract and facilitate twisted evil people.
