Anyone else here enjoy figure drawing? Do you have a lot of experience doing them? Human bodies can be incredibly beautiful things to draw. I'm partial to female bodies, but anyways, what do you think?
I used to draw a lot of really fat naked ladies. They usually had hamburger heads. Let me see if I can find one laying around somewhere lol
I agree, the human body is beautiful, but it was always extremely difficult for me to draw. I didn't practice enough with it to be even close to good. I did do quite a bit of realistic animal drawing, though. It was much easier for me. I have more or less lost my passion to draw these days. Depression is a hell of a thing.
The human figure is the best thing to practice drawing because we are more familiar with human form than anything else. If you can draw a person and make it look like them you can draw anything. This is why they are hard to draw. Practice them and your drawing will improve faster than with any other subject.
I used to love it. Got some interesting results with "blind contour" .
I keep trying to get my kid to use this method to hone her skills but haven't had much luck yet. She's a human xerox machine tho when looking at a flat surface.
Another lifetime ago got a girlfriend of mine to be the model for my class. She was sooo beautiful, but it was funny to be in the bathroom with a concealer stick covering up one tiny little zit on her perfect ass. ?
I used to love life drawing. Yes, female bodies are a lot prettier to draw. I would say due to the curves. There is more sensuality and weightless. I should had taken advantage of students back when I was in graphic school design school and drawn more pretty young people. Today, I am sure my girl friends would pose for me, but they are not spring chicks anymore either. Lol
@CuriousCreature I would take those classes if they offered here in town. If I find some of my old drawings, I'll share
People ask me how I got into clay and pottery. I tell them it was because I couldn't paint! I wish I was better at drawing...
@CuriousCreature Only for making molds to cast into iron sculpture but they were pretty abstract. And only 6-8 inches tall. These are some of the waxes pulled from the silicone mold made around the clay.
