I am hesitant to post here because everyone else seems to be working at a much more sophisticated level than I could ever aspire to (I can barely draw a straight line WITH a ruler). I've been doing crafting for years. Probably won't remember all the trends I've partaken in, but here's a start: fabric painting (yeah, that WAS a thing!), plastic canvas, soap crafting (I once made a soap that looked like blueberry pie), jewelry making, and now no-sew blankets. These are not difficult, can be finished quickly, make good gifts, and are forgiving in that if you make a mistake, you can usually hide it. I think the one I am working on now is the 27th or 28th one I have made since mid-November 2017. The photos here show 2 blankets for kids (Wonder Woman et al and the trucks/bulldozers), and two for adults (believe it or not).
(P.S. I tell people that my home is littered with the bones of former hobbies. Leftovers here, there, and everywhere.)
Home made blankets are a great gift. I made one each for my girls years ago, reversible polar fleece with a layer of batting between. Actually did a decent job sewing them as the girls have been using them and thanking me for years. Now it's the grand kid's turn...
You know that's the good thing about art it doesn't matter what it looks like it's an expression of the way you feel. Imagine if Pablo Picasso felt that he wasn't any good and look at some of his artwork. So it's not it's not about levels that people are honest the expression you're doing great I love the Wonder Woman blanket.
Thanks! The young lady who received it is five. I hope it will lead her to continue to dream of being a superhero!
A straight line is only a concept. Perhaps try sculpture, no need for anything straight.
Don't be so hard on yourself! Your blankets mean the world to whomever owns them. I have a quilt that was my Dad's. It got passed on to me when he died. It is a simple block quilt but how it makes me feel wrapped up in it when I miss my Dad or I'm ill is therapeutic. It's a comfort thing. So, thank you for your contribution. Hugs
I completely get what you're saying about all the craft supplies and projects in your house. This is a shot across the "craft room", although it is not the ONLY craft area in the house.
The blankets are nice, love the kitty ones.
The "bulldozer" blanket was my biggest worry; I was afraid the 3-yr-old would not want to use it. I still don't know if he is using it as a blanket, but he is definitely using it as a road that he can drive all his tractors on!
Lol..my "craft room" is actually my craft house! Most of my stuff is tidy...but it's everywhere! A creative person lives here! Shut up!
There are many levels to the idea of 'art'. The being creative part is what makes it FUN!! If YOU enjoy what you're doing pay no attention to anyone else. Your stuff is lovely!!
