Hey folks! In a few weeks I’ll be heading to Pennsylvania to backpack that section of the Appalachian trail. I’ve heard horror stories about the rocks so anyone have firsthand experience with that section? How bad are they?

I joined a Meetup hike last weekend on the Historic Roanoke Horse Trail. It runs parallel to the parkway and there was constant car noise, and often in sight of homes. It's obscure and rarely used though, so significant for locals who have hiked ...

Went back to the MarbleYard today. A little brisk but pretty too. That middle photo is supposed to show how some of this granite has patterns not unlike what water might have caused. Any geologists in the room?

For east coasters, or those willing to travel, Would there be interest in a Sunday-after-thanksgiving, burn off the extra calories hike? Location TBD, but the closer to me (roughly Roanoke VA) the better. ?
