Hospital Lobby Shells Out For Its ‘Friend in Washington’ Richie Neal
The American Hospital Association is boosting the Massachusetts Democrat who blocked surprise billing reform.
The Democrat Neal puts his for sell bar code out again.
Over rate paying is bad enough along with hidden added expenditures. Let me remind you of a few other issues again.
Any hospital procedures taking place where your doctor invites another doctor or specialist to observe can end up costing you several thousands of dollars your insurance might not cover. Especially if it's something you go under for and you can't be asked for permission. Question the procedure before it happens.
If you go in to your doctor for a required wellness check via your insurance company, be careful how you proceed during the visit. If you're drawn into discussion of other issues outside the wellness check it can cost you as much as a couple to few hundred dollars that your insurance might not cover. If your doctor is working within a group healthcare organization you will definitely be looking at at least a $100 extra charge for going outside the wellness check.
!Question your medications! Doctors, especially those within group organizations are pimped to push medications that can cost much more than others. The group organization and often the doctor get paid compensations from drug companies to push their drugs for them which are often quite more expensive.
I changed my doctor for some of these reasons who was in a group organization. I'd been going to him for 4 years and constantly fighting the same issues with him and his office. They kept putting a $100 charge on my bill that my insurance wouldn't cover each year. Even though I totally quit talking outside the check boundaries.
He also prescribed me a concentrated fish oil that cost over $300 for a 3 month supple. Fortunately I mentioned this on my facebook page and a friend of mine told me to use fish oil from the drug store. I managed to keep my triglycerides down to favorable levels for several years saving me thousands of dollars.
Search the medications your given! Some of the medications we are given cause other issues. Discuss that with your doctor. Find a private doctor if you feel you need to. After Mary and I got together she got me signed up with hers who has a private practice. It's been a world of difference. They only attempt to charge me 25 on the wellness check. Mary bitches and they take it off Those organized groups will not do that for you. They're out to take as much money from you as they can.
Concentrated fish oil is a lot cheaper if you buy it over the counter. That's ridiculous! $300 for a 3 month supply! You can get a 2 month supply for like $30. I get my vitamins from Amazon. I spend like $40 for a whole year supply of vitamin C and vitamin D and Lysine for better immune health. Going through prescription is definitely more expensive. Unless I need something like 50,000 IU of vitamin D, which I did need at one point, I will always get my vitamins from the regular market place.
Right. I was looking at 1200 a year in fish oil and started getting over the counter. Last year my count went back up and my new doctor put me back on the concentrated fish oil. Not quite as much though. I have to do my meds according to insurance through the mail every 3 months. $136.00 every 3 months. The rest of my meds are dirt cheep fortunately. But the thing is I didn't have any issues with my triglycerides until they put me on one of the other medications I take. When I looked it up it said it could cause that to happen. The previous doctor played it off though. How does a normal reading for years, under 200, shoot up to 1400 in a matter of a few moths then?
@William_Mary That's another problem. When your meds cause other issues. I guess they're just weighing the benefit/risk factor with what they have and what they prescribe. Sometimes I wonder if they know what they're doing when they make these meds and the side effects they're going to have just so they can prescribe something else to take care of the side effects of the first thing they prescribed.
