A Guide to US Empire in Africa: Neocolonial Order & AFRICOM

Abby Martin speaks to Eugene Puryear to discuss the big picture of US imperialism in Africa: From the Berlin Conference to the subversion of liberation movements to neocolonial puppets and the current sprawl of AFRICOM "counterterrorism."

Basically what my take on the end of WWII brought us was an attempt to erase the vast colonialism in Africa by various European countries, using the US as the new power structure. On the bases of neocolonialism going worldwide under a facade of liberation.

With a number of these countries falling in line within Marxism or a sense of democratic socialism, they were forced into a choice of working with the USSR or western countries. Of course the western countries couldn't allow this influence to take a large hold creating another socialist block like found in the USSR.
