Hawks always say our geopolitical situation resembles that of 1938 so that any call for de-escalation, diplomacy or detente can be portrayed as “appeasement”. It’s never 1919, when the conditions which would give rise to World War Two were put in place, or any of the early 20th century years when the trajectory toward World War One could have easily been turned away from.

Our fetishization of World War Two has eclipsed from memory the fact that it was the single worst thing that ever happened on this planet. The trauma it inflicted upon our species still reverberates through our collective consciousness to this day, and avoiding it would have been objectively good.

What many probably don't know or recall, Truman became part of the 3 leaders of nations between the US, England, and USSR "deceptively" working against Germany as allies. Deceptive because virtually all of them had their own agreements with Germany at some point in time, the US and England more on a united stance. Virtually every country in Europe and Slavic region had none aggression agreements with Germany. However, Roosevelt, although willing to go along with Churchill on betraying the USSR didn't have a lot of respect for him. After his death Truman was more willing towards the aggressive nature against the USSR that Churchill had secretly been negotiating with Germany. There has been an agenda to destroy the USSR, and now Russia, ever since the 1917 Marxist revolution.

Towards the end of the war as the USSR was pushing the German army back out of their country into Europe, after devastating losses, Churchill's wife visited the USSR/Crimea with humanitarian aid and vast donations collected from the British citizenship who recognized that the USSR was protecting them. She spent 42 days in the USSR. After Hitler betrayed the none aggression agreement, invading the USSR, the country took the brunt of the war losing approximately 27 million people by the end. The people of the USSR welcomed her whole heartedly. Although while she's in the USSR her husband is secretly attempting to convince the German's to continue to push east. Come 1939 it all begins to become unraveled and the primary agenda turns towards the annihilation of the USSR with Poland planning an attack. But Poland is attacked by Germany first. Stalin ultimately begins to get word and recognizes the west has betrayed his country as the end of the war closes in. A glimpse of Truman comes into the picture at 27:23 --- with his true nature being exposed at the end of the documentary.

Keep to mind also during all these years in the 30's, even shortly after, the US and UK have banks helping to fund the rebuilding of the German army against the WWl agreement. Along with the Ford and Bush families and other US and UK corporations. The US was secretly sending oil to Germany from the Caribbean until shortly after the war began, and the Ukraine fascist briefly mentioned in this one can be found in another RTD documentary in more detail.

Though he faced criticism, Butler was steadfast in his beliefs about war, US imperialism, and a growing Pro-Fascist movement. He spoke frankly and honestly about his experiences and opinions, and was very popular with the American public.

In 1934, Butler went before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) to expose a conspiracy against the government. He had been recruited by a group of wealthy Pro-Fascists who had hoped to use him in a coup against President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He went along, gathering intelligence about the plot, and took it to Congress. Butler’s assertions were not aggressively pursued, and the matter was largely dismissed. However, an internal report to Congress from HUAC confirmed the veracity of the plot.]
