Why Donald Trump Jr.’s ‘loser teachers’ comment was ‘a chilling moment’ for educators around the world
(“You know what I love? I love seeing some young conservatives because I know it’s not easy. (Crowd applauds and shouts.) Keep up that fight. Bring it to your schools. You don’t have to be indoctrinated by these loser teachers that are trying to sell you on socialism from birth. You don’t have to do it. Because you can think for yourselves. They can’t.” (Crowd applauds and shouts again.) – Donald Trump Jr. in Texas on Feb. 11, 2019
(In a stadium filled with people chanting “USA, USA,” the son of the president of the United States called for hostility toward teachers because of their so-called political leanings. This is a message you would expect in an authoritarian regime, not at a rally for the U.S. president.)
Yea, I don't know, but it seems to me in a time where more and more parents are forced to work more than one job in many cases, where the teacher may be the significant source of embedding a sense of social structure within the children of the future, that we would want this type of ideology and temperament suggested upon them. I think we have enough parents out there that teach their children terrible ideology's as it is, the type that most likely were at this rally, and the many in those of 2016, we don't need our government attempting to expand it into the classroom. And I highly doubt there are a large amount of teachers, who I imagine most still support one of the two establishment parties, are in the classroom with the agenda to purposely push a sense of socialism on their students, like the type that I support.
Every time I wonder how far this can move, it moves further. Each day it seems we get exposed to more fascism. And that left side that is suppose to be a check to the right side does absolutely nothing but lip service.
I agree with you and especially like that last paragraph. One reason for lip service only on the creeping fascism is that way too many people seem to be in favor of it. When those in power are more concerned with being re-elected many voices go silent. In fact, those of the current GOP who seem to be turning against the Orange Don are actually more concerned with their own re-election than they are with our country. None of this is a good sign.
I love your closing comment; "Each day it seems we get exposed to more fascism."....spot on. No wonder there's AntiFa and no wonder they fear/loath them.
