Everything we see and hears is an illusion, and it is our own brain that does this, we never see or hear the whole picture.
Besides that, no one writes on an issue that does not have a side , slat or message they want to convey, never is it just a list of facts, why else would they put in the time to do so. Sometimes it can be backed up with facts sometimes not, or sometimes they only tell you the facts they want you to know, and others are just crazy ramblings of the many conspiracy theories out there. Sometimes it is hard to tell who are the nuts from who are legitimate resources. A lot of the time we never know the whole truth tell many many years later when things are old enough that it is safe to tell the whole story.

When you get down to it, aren't all societal constructs an illusion? They only work as long as the populous buys into it. It is very much like religion in that aspect.

The same thing has been said repeatedly by Hindi wise men, gurus, teachers, etc., for thousands of years. I agree and mentioned it in an informal Humanist meeting wherein I was met with much negative response. I believe truly applying this to our society makes many seemingly important issues, irrelevant. Also, stand in the middle of Alaska and watch the Northern Lights dance, then convince yourself that you are important in the Universe.
