Chris Hedges: Princeton or Harvard Are Schools that Have Always Existed to Train the Ruling Elites to Manage the System of Corporate Capitalism
{What's happened is the ideology of neoliberalism or unfettered capitalism has been exposed as a fraud, a con game. And the ruling elites don't really have a counter-argument. We saw the critique of the system embodied in 2016 in the two insurgent candidates Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, although Donald Trump, of course, had no intention of thwarting the oligarchic rule. In fact, he has accelerated it. But he spoke to the reality that has gripped the American working class. And because the elites don't have a counter-argument anymore, they have taken critics of corporate capitalism who were already marginalized and pushed them further and further into the outer reaches of the internet by imposing algorithms – Facebook has done this and others – supposedly to combat foreign influence and specifically Russian influence which is just ridiculous. I don't think I have ever written a nice word about Putin in my life or written much about Russia at all. But you saw a campaign directed at left-wing sites, all of which have been targeted in an effort to essentially, if not silence, at least ghettoize these critics who do not appear on the mainstream. People like Noam Chomsky, for instance, who I would argue is probably America's greatest intellectual, are virtually blacklisted. And so all of us who critique imperialism and corporate capitalism have been pushed off, even on the supposedly 'liberal' networks like MSNBC because these corporate elites don't have an answer anymore.}
At no time soon will you see people like Hedges and Abby Martin, add your favorite here, on MSM who can deliver factual material on their programs to oppose the narrative agenda of their corporate owners. At best you might find them on programs like Democracy Now, NPR, BBC, PBR radio under controlled interviews. Democracy Now being somewhat the better, but still often resorts back to party lines with the democrats which often counters their spoken purpose, which denigrates the message in the outcome as a whole. The same as I bitch about a few alternative sites I use here. In this case you have to know the journalist from years of experience to learn if they show a tendency to tow the establishment line from aspect to aspect. Otherwise it's easy to be drawn down the rabbit hole. Which is often the ending game with Democracy Now.
That was my one and only grip with Robert Parry, love his work as I do/did. He allowed himself to be used on NPR one day to promote a book on a show that was a highly fake news source, On Point with Tom Ashbrook. It was rarely about being on point. It also became the biggest Russiagate pusher after the 2016 election with constant daily false narratives while avoiding the real issues with that election cycle. Not to mention they covered Clinton and Sanders at a rate of about 98% to 2% in favor of Clinton. Jill Stein well under 1%. He eventually received his well deserved dues getting caught up in the Me Too movement as an accused harasser. But the show that's taken its place, 1A has done a marvelous job of filling in with that delusional reality for Ashbrook.
It's imperative to know the journalist you put your trust into to know when they are leading you astray!
{And so we have to look back over the last few decades where the Christian right has been organizing and preparing to take power for a long time.}
This began in about the early to mid 50's. Due to my latest crash I no longer have the article I use to use for this topic, and due to the recent intolerance to properly allow us dissidents to spread our word, I can't get a search engine to find it. But this was a conspiracy put forth by corporations using religion to fight against the socialism aspects of FDR's programs. This was the same period and movement in time when god became the new claim for the right to proclaim our nation was built under god, also became embedded into our currency and pledge of allegiance. It went hand in hand with the earlier Red Scare. Which is being revived today with the fear Russia narrative.
