World famous chef, Daniel Humm, has embraced a plant based diet but has been terminated from Cadbury’s in London but still has managed to change the menu for the Eleven Madison Park Restaurant in New York City.
”The man with the hammer treats everything as a nail, the saying goes. Something like that seems to be afflicting Eleven Madison Park in its new vegan incarnation. The restaurant’s chef and owner, Daniel Humm, is using the skills he brought to meat and seafood to whack away at vegetables. Almost none of the main ingredients taste quite like themselves in the 10-course, $335 menu the restaurant unwrapped this June after a 15-month pandemic hiatus. Some are so obviously standing in for meat or fish that you almost feel sorry for them.”
I noted on some coverage of the Glasgow climate conventions, plant based foods was a model the world needs desperately to strive for. I will predict, a plant based diet is akin to an electric vehicle.
It’s a funny thing, have been eating meat free alternatives for about 30 years now, (on and off), and there have been improvements like not using factory chicken protein in burgers; but for me the attempts to make things more meat like ruins the products. Stringy red burgers, no thanks, I much prefer some mycoprotein chunky offering.
But I suppose some will prefer it. Served Quorn burgers at a BBQ 20 odd years ago and didn’t bother mentioning it; no one complained. Late night kebabs for mates - same thing, covered in chilli sauce anyway lols.
That’s true for some. My late partner liked nothing about meat, the texture or taste. But most seem addicted to the stuff. Only going to the stealth model will convince them. Too many refuse to see how critical this issue is.
