Luckily I live a very progressive town, Davis, CA. We've been a sanctuary city since 1986 and are the most bicycle-friendly city or town in the country.

We have a great university, with the best Agriculture program in the country. It also has great Food Science, nutrition, medical school

Every restaurant in town, with our progressive population, has HEALTHY Vegan options. There are
folks like me who understand what it means to eat healthily, nothing deep fried, no sugars, just real food, much of it organic and locally sourced.

Even one of the Indian Buffets is Vegan, using Coconut Milk instead of Ghee. You did know that Indian food by default is made with Ghee, clarified butter.

And, they're all reasonably priced to serve the students.

I love living in progressive Northern California.

@Sheannutt I know people in Grants Pass. Yes, Davis is a really incredible town.
The bicycle is the symbol of our town. Vegan heaven. And, politically and socially very progressive. Below is a sign on neighborhoods all over Davis.

I like Pad Thai but would substitute Tempeh for the Tofu. Thanks for sharing. Are there many vegan options in restaurants in Grants Pass? Here we have a place called Vortex which is a bowl/wrap vegetarian establishment.

@Sheannutt Welcome to the club. I was never big restaurant goer and became so less and less as I grew up. One thing is I don't feel comfortable in a restaurant alone. I also cook and with my first marriage I was the primary cook. I have no problem cooking a, from scratch, meal for myself. I also like to can and right now I am removing the flower stem from about 4 lbs. of Gooseberries for a Gooseberry/raspberry/aroniaberry preserve. However, more and more I miss sharing it with another. I will look for some of my favorite recipes to post.
