And you're in North Carolina... it's worse up here at the 49th parallel. Exercise and full spectrum lighting work wonders. All my LED lights in my home are full spectrum. Also spend time outdoors during the daytime on your off days. Be in the sun.

I had a doctor suggest exercise and light therapy. Look up verilux light therapy. About the walking in the dark, I bought a head lump to see in the dark while I walk for safety etc. The exercise is great, walking in the dark sucks imo.
