Stood up! Was going to meet a local guy for coffee last night, 6pm at a Dunkin Donuts. I had mentioned, several times, that i was in the middle of removing/replacing some rotted deck boards. I stopped the job, unfinished, at 5, to clean up & go. It was a lovely evening & my pool was beckoning after hours ofhot, dirty work, but i had made a committment Got there at 5minutes to 6, ordered a coffee & nosh....6:15, nothing. Checked my phone, he had sent a message at 20 minutes to 6 (i had checked my emails at 3 as i hydrated) saying "how about tomorrow, or 7?" Not even "sorry"!.. i replyed, "i respected your time, i could have finished my deck job and been floating in the pool right now, bu-bye" Such cavalier crap before we even meet????? This dickhead lives in Ledyard Ct, is on OurTime...name on request!
Don't you think you should have asked him why he was going to be an hour late? Sometimes people have unavoidable delays, car problems, etc. I think you are overreacting. As is everyone else on this thread!
If it had been me being late, and it has happened, not a biggie, really, I would have first apologized, and then explained, and then apologized again....from him i got neither.
@AnneWimsey yes I suppose so on such short notice.
@mooredolezal his unapologetic email was time-dated 21 minutes exactly from the time he chose! You are all correct, I had a lucky escape...and since I had a grocery list with me, hit up Aldi's on the way home & they had some late-season fresh cherries! Win!
@AnneWimsey I just went to Aldi's a few weeks ago for the first time in years. I'm definitely going to start going again. I forgot how great their prices were! Their chicken salad, egg salad, Etc is all very good.
Whenever I agree to a significant inconvenience to meet someone it adds to my anxiety and my expectations. Among other things, it makes getting stood-up much more irritating. If I found myself in your situation I would suggest meeting on a different day, so my other commitment (deck work) wouldn't compete. It wouldn't prevent the stand-up, but I would be less irritated.
My deck was Not the problem. ( I, as always, was waaaaay over-optimistic about the time required!)..HE picked the time, after 2 days of discussion.
@AnneWimsey don't be afraid to negotiate meeting time & place. Any man who's not willing to negotiate is probably not worth meeting.
Rude, no class and you did not waste that much time. I'm doing Meetups and meeting lots of singles in all age groups. No cost unless the group has a small fee. Worth checking out. Boycotting dating sites-if I can't meet real people......
Can you give us any information about finding these meetups?
I actually manage a Meetup site for the Senior Singles Club I am 6th-term President of, and I agree it is a great place! Just type in "Meetup" and a whole new world will open up, you can spec8fy distance & interests.
@AnneWimsey very cool - I've done meetups in NH and now NY State. Meeting all kinds of people.
What noplanetb said, not cool after the comma!
Never head out to meet someone without checking your messages first.
I had to leave Before his message came in, which arrived just 20 minutes before the meet time....that, along with no 'sorry' of any kind, marks him as a Loser.
@AnneWimsey I never said he wasn't.
You only mentioned checking it 3 hours prior.
@adaptable1958 looser?
