I just read that there have been approximately 108 billion people in history.
If Christianity is true, at least 50 billion people have been sent to hell with no chance of being saved.

Hell, Michigan. It's cold and, apparently, very crowded!

God is hedging his desire for the smell of burned meat. Under older Christian beliefs in my lifetime people were resurrected (to flesh and blood I supposes) and then sent to heaven or hell forever. It contradicts because once you are in either place you are no longer flesh and blood, so what is resurrection for?

HEY!!!! It's getting crowded down here!

Throw me a rope !!

Can't. It'd just catch on fire.

Yeah, and it must be getting even worse with ALL those Catholic Paedophile Priests wandering around down these days as well.

I think that should read "If Christianity WERE true, not "is true".

Possibly. But since it has not been disproven beyond belief it still is present tense. Don't you think?
Zues was a God. Ra was a God. They are now myths. Shiva is still a God. Indians still believe.

Wait no. Was. It is singular. If a was, if a and b were.

Reminds me of the following which was supposed to be a real incident. Note that one of the premises is that multiple religions condemn all other religious believers destin for hell, so he postulates that everyone goes to hell.

[albany.edu]

"Is Hell Exothermic or Endothermic?

"The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term:

""Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof."

"Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant.  One student, however, wrote the following:

"First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time.  So, we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving.  I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave.  Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today.  Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.  Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle’s Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added.  This gives two possibilities.

"1)  If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

"2)  Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

"So which is it ?  If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms. Therese Banyan during my Freshman year that "It will be a cold night in Hell before I sleep with you,"  and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then (2) cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic.

"The student got the only A"

I read this long ago

@AttilaThePun - Me too. The dates of where I found this were about 10 year ago, but I believe I first read it before that.

Who believes in that shit?

@Sealybobo there was no god as well as there is no god

1

Yes but how can that be since, according to the Goat-herder's Guide to the Galaxy ( aka the bible), no-one can be judged by god until Judgment Day occurs ?

1

Because god loves them. Amen.

Not to be offensive but where did you get the 50 billion have gone to hell with no chance of being saved. I bring this up because this is the type of brainwashing that they use to keep people into certain religions. It's almost as inane as murdering 100 people and then going to confession and being saved. These are the very things that have led us out of religion and here we are trying to scare everyone back in.

Humanity has been around for at least 6,000 years. Anyone who died before 33AD had no chance of being saved by him. That's gotta be at least half... Not to mention all that have died since before missionaries reached them. Probably more than half.

1

That happens in fairy tale

1

WOW...50 Billion people....let's have a party!

1

That is a lot higher number than I have ever seen. The math seems off to me. And which group of Christianity are you using for you in Hell count? I'm just being picky. As for your thought, yep, a lot of pre Christian people are by evangelical standards are in Hell. Catholic belief puts those that came before in purgatory awaiting an undetermined fate - a long with unbaptized babies.

1

At the time of supposed Jesus, there were a few million people. If Jesus had returned, as he said he would, only a few million people would have gone to hell. Since that time, many billions of people have lived, died and gone to hell and god, being all knowing, knew this would happen and has allowed it to continue up to the present time and no sign of it ending. Assuming of course the existence of god.

@Sealybobo and it needs money.

Fret not. Many Christian offshoots use a purgatory-like construct to save people from the really nasty place. They also use atonements and other redemption tools. The new testament contains all manner of "god didn't really mean to go THAT far" conventions. Convenient, eh? Hail Mary!

Don't worry, its all part of God's plan. Hmm, but which god? There are just so many of them, and even if we boil it down to the 40 or so one and only true gods, that's still quite a lot. Then what about all the others who've been forgot over time...?
An ex of mine many years ago said that if you do not take Jesus into your heart you cannot go to heaven no matter how good you lead your life. I asked her, what about all those humans made by god who never heard the word as they had lived entire lives long before JC appeared or were living elsewhere on the planet and thus were unable to hear his words etc...
They all go to hell. So God wastes huge amounts of people quite deliberately. And therefore, hell has all of the people prior to JC, all the Jews (gods chosen) and all of the Catholics too - yes she said that. Something else, as I wasn't a virgin, even I'd taken JC into my heart, I'd still be going to hell. She would too, even if we got married etc...
Lets face it, it's all wobbly nonsense, or heaven is rather empty.

That's because God loves us so much.

0

Don't worry about it. Christianity was made up by people to control the masses and enforce social mores. It doesn't represent truth. God doesn't exist and there is no heaven or hell.

I have heard that. Made up by Roman elite to give the rioting Jews a peaceful Messiah instead of a warrior.

There does not need to be a mythical hell. Most of the human race have, or will, experience hell right on this planet.

0

It’s not. Don’t sweat the fictional stuff 😉

I hope they serve beer in hell! lol

No only decaf coffee

And a decent well aged Scotch as well as some really honest Vodka also. LOL.
