Does anybody else wonder why "believer" is an option on an agnostic dating site?
If this is a dating site then why is "Here for community only" an option?
The question is rhetorical; use your loaf.
Because it isn't just a dating site.
Because we (on the whole, at any rate) have enquiring minds and are willing to discuss our lack of belief with those who do not share it, provided they are willing to show us the same respect we afford to them. We should not exist only in echo-chambers, as so many religious people do.
A believer believes and is therefore a theist.
Yes, I have the same question.
Another question I have is this... if you believe enough to identify as a believer, aren't there other sites which would be more suitable?
This is one place people go to get away from religion, with so few other options.
I wouldn't join Christian Mingle and hope to find "Agnostic" as an option.
Although I'd love to join and use the username "Satan's Asshole."
Why would people want to "get away" as you say from helping widows and orphans?
Religion... pure and faultless is this: to help widows and orphans in distress and avoiding worldly corruption.
The oldest defination of religion that I know. It is in text that has been peer reviewed for 100s of years, almost 2000 at least AND the text has achieved world record for being most copied text of it's kind.
Why or for what else are you using this word religion?
Religion is pure and faultless?
What are you smoking buddy?
@blahblah widows and orphans ??? Hahahahahahahahah !!!! Dude . that completed my assessment . Thanks for the freeby
@Athena and no, you do not understand the definition given. Religion that is considered pure and faultless is: helping widows etc.
Religion that is funny and sarcastic is sarcasm worship given to the non-existent flying spaghetti monster sky God.
You have to understand definations of words and how definations work.
@blahblah
You may need a translator to be understood.
No clue what you said in either of your comments, in that case.
@blahblah Defination: Defining foolishness for the nation? Well, you win.
I joined Christian Mingle once
@VictoriaNotes my "beloved book" that I wrote has only one sentence for a reason. The 222 blank pages would be for people studying to add to it.
@VictoriaNotes now I read you further, you think I wrote biblical text? Ha ha
@VictoriaNotes Cherry picking 101
The Eighteenth Amendment (Amendment XVIII) of the United States Constitution established the prohibition of "intoxicating liquors" in the United States. The amendment was proposed by Congress on December 18, 1917, and was ratified by the requisite number of states on January 16, 1919.
Yes, it is illegal to posess "intoxicating liquors" in the United States. No, the 21 amendment then changed that.
Cherry picking biblical text is simular to realizing laws can change and cancel each other. Currently, the United States laws are those used to oppress and tax people in these lands.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture[refering to old testiment text]..., is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Now, if you were a disciple of Timothy then you would learn doctrine from Timothy for a righteous living. Where as, if you knew biblical text in new testiment, Paul and Peter had disagreements, my memory vague on the situation. However my point, is that as things were done in early times the difference disciples/apostles were considered like leaders of the 12 different tribes. Each leader would have old testiment text to use for establishing doctrine according to how they want to lead their particular tribe.
So, the biblical text is not per say "the absolute " law, but is an example law more so than anything for leaders to consider things for having laws/rules.
I, in part, grew up being raised by Preacher/pastor grandparents that my grand mother was a dominant personality and at times had done preaching. My grandmother wore the pants in her house so to speak was a dominant, but she only wore dresses.
My grandparents lived good clean poor lives. They were very clean people, grandma kept a very clean organized house because it was her house not because grandpa was dominant over her.
My grandparents were not high school educated but they could very much read, and did a lot of the biblical text but not so much in depth study of biblical text to find out Jesus the Christ is Lucifer the devil.
@VictoriaNotes there is , if I remember correctly, different new testiment writtings by different author that gives a different defination for religion. And people wonder why biblical text appears contradictory is because as I explained the different writers were writing according to their leaders decision for tribe or followers doctrine.
In modern terms of law and rule making consider the changing in some places for marijuana laws. In some places it is legal in different ways for marijuana but I understand the Federal government laws are not changed. So a person could be legal by a state law but be arrested by federal law which is considered to be more powerful than state laws, But then you get into states rights issues of States making their own laws with out federal interference.
So, America laws can contradict and prosecution attorneys and law enforcement can cherry pick to allow Masonic lodge secret religion racist devil worship government officials and supporters of the secret religion devil worship government call U.S.A. to pick and choose those they want to bully and terrorize with prosecution, fines fees court cost who oppose the racist devil worshippers European invasion of 1492 and Masonic lodge devil worshipers freedom from England July 4th, 1766.
@VictoriaNotes Paul the apostle educated like as if an attorney 2000 years ago understood things and in a prophetic sense refered to the old testiment as "
These are a shadow of the things that were to come; ... Col. 2:17
If you do not see, understand or agree with prophetic then think of it as the saying " history repeats itself " .. the repeated things maybe be evolved and have differences but still could be looked at as a repeat of sorts .
The Masonic lodge secret religion racist devil worship government laws (u.s.a. ) is given a metaphorical title, "beast" .
Revelations 13:12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.
The Masonic lodge new world order devil worship forces worship of the first beast biblical laws/christianity "in God we trust".
Thought provoking question. Along with one that has always puzzled me. The drive thru book deposit at the library has Braille on it.
Al Pacino races a Lamborghini blind one Sunday noon empty NYC streets BLIND in movie SCENT of a Woman but did not return his braille books to the Library....maybe a 4 door driver side rear passenger is blind needing instructions to operate the book drop ? Love means being helpful???
@GreenAtheist huh??? I’m having trouble following, but never mind. Fundamentally just put that out there to see if it would ruffle anyone’s feathers. It did.
@Psmintexas thought provoking to be sure
My answer as to why they allow believers in here, is to help those thinking of becoming Agnostic or Atheist in the future. So, maybe they put braille on the library drive through, for those people thinking of becoming blind in the future. Hmm, I think there's logic in my argument but I just have to find it.
Agnostic means you don't know for sure. Some people don't know and believe. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive. Besides anyone can join, it's a good way to know where members stand.
That is so true to me because I was at that stage in my early teen years.
Because it's an agnostic site, not a strictly athiest site.
To be inclusive rather than exclusive. For it is better to expect people to be a positive member of society than to judge them based on some bullshit superstitious belief that really doesn't matter.
We also have Humanists on this site - some are religious. (https://humanist.com).
Remember that Agnostics aren't always Atheist. That helps with the definitions too.
It's all up there under the ♥ Learn button... Just glance up.
I think because everyone is welcome And they might be coming here because they are taking baby steps to true freedom
Everyone is welcome here.
Speak for yourself...Trumpers need to stay the hell away.
Perhaps someone is still a believer but is questioning that belief and they want to ask questions in a "safe" space. Or, they simply want to learn why others don't believe in gods, or question their existence. I don't mind those kinds of believers joining. But, I have no patience for anyone who is here to try to push their religious agenda. And, this isn't just a dating site.
Because people can, and do believe, without being convinced of what they, exactly, believe in.
Agnosticism is about admitting you have no proof for God, no knowledge.
Atheism is about admitting you do not believe in Gods.
No, I read why the site designer put it there
...goals in building this community - one of which is to help bridge the growing divide in society. My thought was if I could raise the view of non-believers in the eyes of religious people, it could help them humanize what they may perceived as bad people...
#FuckReligion...all of it.
@ReadyforaChange yes, thanks for embracing the all inclusive spirit.
@ReadyforaChange Most DEFINITELY NOT mate, that'd only be offering them something pleasurable....LOL.
@1of5 Religion is a cult. KKK is a religious cult, as the GOP seems to be. You embrace cults?
@ReadyforaChange that's just dumb. The conversation is about believers being on the site per design/intent of the sites designer.
@1of5 Wow what a strong argument.
