I see that most a lot of liberals make fun of call out Christians on their BS but are OK if Muslims believe and preach the same BS. Why fellow liberals...why? Scared of being called "Racist"?
We need to call out BS everywhere and not be selective about it.
*Corrected my post based on the wisdom gained from the comments
Most liberals. Really? Have you spoken to most liberals? I strongly suspect your statement is based on opinion... Not empirical evidence... Do you have a link or poll that supports this statement?
And do you actually mean atheist liberals or all liberals?
Im sorry, I don't have a link or poll that supports it..and you are right - this is mostly based on my opinion that I have constructed with my interactions with my fellow liberals in Atlanta. Most of my liberal friends are like what I described ; but I could be myopic in my view as painting the larger liberal group with the same brush - sampling error on my part.
Anyway, Im happy to see the first 2 comments on this post as not agreeing with my statement - which is great. I sincerely hope that real liberal values win.
@Cutiebeauty My thought too. In this country I would imagine most registered Dems would tell you they are believers at the very least.
I don't know where you got your information but I disagree. Liberal make fun of all religious BS. Liberals don't like discrimination against everyone in a religion because of the actions of a few. Just like all Christians are not the Nazis and the KKK.
I am a liberal and I have no problem criticizing any religion--especially if members of that religion are hell-bent on forcing their beliefs onto the rest of us.
What I think liberals stand up for is that Muslims, and all other religions, have exactly the same rights in the US as Christians. Christians should NOT receive special treatment--like what we see from so many of those in our government.
We need to rebuild and fortify the wall of separation between church and state, not continue to let it erode; that is how we can protect ourselves against ALL religions.
I'm not a liberal and I detest ALL religion equally.
It has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the fact that ALL religion is evil and there are no gods.
Given that you've just arrived at the site, it's clear to me that you are conflating several different concepts.
Not all non-believers are liberals..
Not all liberals are non-believers.
That said, blanket generalizations and statements that reflect said generalizations, will be met with pretty serious pushback.
Welcome to the asylum. Enjoy your stay.
You must hang out with a lot strange people to raise such an argument. Personally I feel the same amount of pity for all true believers.
there’s nuance to this, but i know for many people, it’s based on personal experience. i know a bit about islam and i consider it as bad as christianity, but it’s never affected me directly. i wasn’t dragged to a mosque growing up, i wasn’t forced to wear a head covering or told to worship allah. i was dragged to a baptist church, forced to wear skirts, and told i would burn in hell because being queer is a sin against god. i recognize that they’re very similar religions in a lot of ways, but i know so much more about christianity and have personal experience with the trauma it can cause. almost everyone around me is christian, so when i’m speaking about social issues in my community, i have to talk about christianity. i don’t know any muslims, though i’m sure there are at least a few living here. i’ve never met or been affected by any of them though.
it’s important to call out hate and bigotry in all its forms, but i think it’s important to remember that people mostly talk about issues that are prevalent in their communities.
why would anyone be scared of being labeled a racist for making fun of muslims? which race of muslim would they run afoul of? you would not be labeled a racist for making fun of muslims any more than you would labeled a racist for making fun of christians. neither has anything to do with race as neither are remotely monolithic when it comes to race.
Rational people do not "make fun" of Islam, they refute its teachings with evidence and reason. Political correctness in Western nations has given Islam a special "protected" status, which illiberal leftist "group think" promotes.
Thank you - This is what I have experienced...and continue to experience in my "liberal" friend circle here in Atlanta.
Mocking the religion of others is not truly liberal behavior. Those who do so are liberal in name only but are lacking in liberal characteristics.
Demonizing conservatives—same thing.
I don't consider myself 'liberal', or 'conservative'. And if Christians catch most of the ridicule on here, perhaps it's because most of this site's members live in predominately 'Christian' countries. And I call a dingbat a dingbat, regardless of religious cult affiliation. Allah-walla-ringy-dingy-dingbat! May a lightening bolt from the blue strike me down!
Oh here we go again with the "liberal" hatred and false facts....you are a one-track "mind" at best.
This is bullshit.
Happy?
No really..I have seen it happen many times..
Somehow the Hijab has been morphed into a sign of "Women's liberation" in the West - the I like to wear whatever I want thing, while in reality, it is a symbol of oppression and millions of women in the Middle East and South Asia are Forced to wear it.
While anyone should have the right to dress as they please, calling it a sign of Women's liberation isn't really right if you think about it. I can provide more examples later..
@EternalVagabond provide an actual example now, please, you're just spouting more bullshit.
Actual links and shit.
@1of5 I will actually be very happy if my current view is wrong - since it proves that true liberalism isnt dead or infiltrated by "minority" religions. I will take some time to examine and reflect on what shaped my current views - maybe they were just memes instead of actual articles. Thank you.
@EternalVagabond Why don't you provide a link that demonstrates that "most liberals" feel that the hijab is a symbol of women's liberation? It appears to be an assumption that you're making with no basis in fact.
@1of5 "the Hijab is seen as liberal liberation" - all I have for that is WTF. Man my feminist friends be all up your ass for such a dumb ass statement. You know who says that? Christian aholes wanting to paint liberals in a bad light.
@Beowulfsfriend uhm, tagged the wrong dude here, I think.
@1of5 sorry.
@Beowulfsfriend no blood, no foul
Most of the people in the US have NO idea what is happening in europe becuase of the invasion of islam via migration. Total denial when presented with the danger. Self-annihilation.
Islam is the worst enemy of our culture. No free speech, No equality, No freedom from religion, No free press,,,,, Women are property,...
NOTHING LIBERAL in any of that.
The religion of pieces, and total suppression.
I do not witness what you say. What I witness is tolerance of people who happen to be Christians and less tolerance of Christians who push their religion on others, and rightful mockery of Christianity itself,
but lack of tolerance for people who happen to be muslims, as if those people were pushing their religion on others just by wearing a hijab or praying. That IS racism. You can think someone's beliefs are silly or even, if pushed on others or acted on in destructive ways, dangerous, without hating people who happen to believe but do not do the dangerous stuff. Most people who believe in some kind of god neither proselytize nor murder. All the crap I see about Islam isn't about Islam but about Muslims. That is racist indeed.
g
Islam is the worst of all religions. Spread by the sword since 620AD.. Only regressive liberals can justify supporting this evil. Islam is probably responsible for the dark ages/medieval period in europe.
The darkness is creeping to everywhere on the planet, demanding special privileges and then dominance. Ignorance combined with nuclear weapons. Yeah, that's a good idea.
"Islam is probably responsible for the dark ages/medieval period in europe."
I have no preference for either Christianity or Islam as they are both equally offensive and foolish IMO, but exactly how did Islam bring on the Dark Ages given that Christianity was prolific through the continent for centuries before Islam was even a thing? Muhammad wasn't alive in 476AD when the Dark Ages began, so how is Islam even related to the starting of the Dark Ages?
"Ignorance combined with nuclear weapons."
Yep, the exact combination that exists in the United States. Ignorance facilitated by rampant belief in Christianity. We are screwed. Only a "Christian" has dropped an atomic bomb on human beings.
@redbai Israel has nukes. SA is close. Pakistan and India.... And you are making comparisons. Comparisons do not describe what has been happening for 1400 years of war and attempted domination. And the mental illness is spreading faster than we are able to comprehend. Western europe is probably already lost.
The spread of islam starting in 620 was all about conquering. And since islam is all about total submission, its spread destroyed all learning, especially after 1200 when a mullee declared working with numbers was the devil's work. Same dude who decreed women must be totally covered.
This combined with the waves of disease that swept the west resulted in the "dark ages."
Good thing the christians were able to raise a defense. Otherwise, we would not be typing these words.

Did Islam cause the Dark Ages? . .Did Islam, not barbarians, destroy classical civilization?
Henri Pirenne and others have promoted the theory that 7th century Islam, not 5th century barbarian conquest, was the main force that destroyed classical civilization. The theory is that the "barbarians" preserved much of classical civilization in culture, if not in politics. But then in the 7th century Islam destroyed that culture in North Africa and the Middle East. And even the areas it did not actually conquer, in Europe, were cut off from what had been for centuries a vast area of free trade and civilization around the Mediterranean. These now-isolated non-Muslim areas became backwaters, without access to the trade and products they had long relied on, and they went into decline.
@OwlInASack As usual you ascribe to me that which you infer.
I would never attack a women who has been so oppressed that she is afraid to show more of her skin than her hands and face. She has had no control of how she has to behave as she stands next to a "man" who is wearing shorts, and sandals, and a t-shirt, because it is 90 degrees.
How do you support such evil and call yourself a liberal?
Jihad Report only ONE week:
Nov 16, 2019 - Nov 22, 2019
Attacks 28
Killed 154
Injured 115
Suicide Blasts 0
Countries 10
@Jacar Your Henri Pirenne argument is flawed. He assumed the loss of trade with other parts of the world caused the Dark Ages and there is no evidence to support that. His theory didn't have the benefit of subsequent archeology finds which showed that there was lots of trade in the Mediterranean contrary to his assumptions during that time.
There is no actual evidence that Islam had any more influence on the Dark Ages than Christianity and there's plenty of evidence that the oppression of Christianity had more to do with the a lack of the spread of knowledge than anything else.
@redbai During the dark ages math and science stayed alive in the Mid-East.
@Beowulfsfriend I know. Which would kind of go against the idea that their existence in Europe would cause a decline in knowledge and scholarship. But it should not be assumed that I giving Islam credit for that, I would credit a more stable environment and a longer history of scholarship than was known in Europe at the time.
Regardless, the idea that Islam came to Europe and caused the Dark Ages is not supported it at all by the evidence. The Dark Ages of Europed started hundreds of years before Islam existed.
@OwlInASack Yeah. Stating the facts of the attacks by islamers is alt-white. That is just stupid.
@OwlInASack, @Beowulfsfriend Until the 12th century when a mullah declared working with numbers was the work of the devil. And they have learned nothing since.
@Jacar yea, I know. One of the top Mullahs in Saudi Arabia only stopped preaching the Sun goes around the Earth a few years ago after one of the Petroleum Princes went to the ISS.
@Jacar That's as convincing an argument as saying that because the Catholic Church condemned the works of and had executed for heresy, men like Bacon, Abano, Ascoli, Bruno, Cardano and Servetus that intellectual pursuit in western civilization came to a halt. Oh wait, the Dark Ages. Never mind.
The idea that Christianity is any better than Islam in regards to science is ridiculous with just a cursory examination of history.
@Beowulfsfriend hey, The Rapture is almost here because the allotted 6,000 years are just about up.......
