Haven’t been around much, just an update. A lot of you know I’ve spent the last couple years cleaning up a hoarders level hellhouse after my dad destroyed it, and last year was even tougher because I got laid off, and then began working retail at dollar general. It worked a lot of social anxiety out of me, but it was emotionally and physically exhausting to be on my feet all day dealing with shitty people for peanuts. Be extra kind to chain retail workers, all year long, not just during holidays. They have it tougher than you know.

I got a call a couple days ago from an old friend and went to interview this morning at a dental lab he’s been working at. The position entails making dentures, or more specifically, molding the gums around them out of wax to be recast in acrylic. And I’m pleased to announce after a few long years without, I finally have some good news: I got the job! Monday I’ll finally be working full time with my hands at a satisfying job again, making more scratch than I ever have, with more benefits n paid time off than I’ve ever even heard of in the US... far away from the public! Yippee!

I feel like I’ve spent the last few years underwater and finally fought my way back to the surface. I’ll finally be able to afford things like health/dental insurance, junk removal and supplies for fixing up my house, trading in my failing vehicle etc. There’s no better job a stoner at the end of his rope with no degree could ask for. Leon and I are gonna kick some ass this year. #Hindsight2020

I’m really pleased for you....and you and Leon look suitably chuffed in the second photo! Quite the “dog’s bollocks” as we say here in the UK! 😁

That's a great story, now it's up to you to make it even better. Sounds like you will though.Best of luck and congrats.

Thanks for sharing your good news. I hope everything continues to work out.

oh wow you got super lucky... where I live only those with some dental education could land a job like that... be sure to thank the friend 😉 Hope your new job is way less emotionally and physically exhausting for ya 🙂

Yeah really! It helped that I’m not afraid of torches/hot wax and was very familiar with all the tools I’ll be using already. It’s not quite so high paid as to attract someone with a dentistry degree, but compared to the scraps I’ve been living on it’s a really well paid job. I also didn’t mean to say it’s more benefits than I’ve ever heard of in the US, but it’s definitely more PTO than I’ve ever heard of. I think my friend said something ridiculous like 20+ days off around Christmas and the whole week of 4th of July. That’s craziness.

Congrats on the new job, retail can be a huge bitch. Glad you're out of it.

Could you make me some dentures for my dog?

Hope things continue like this.

You still have your puppy though. 🙂

Yep, he’s ginormous now but still as cute as ever! Such a good boy. ☺️ The only downside of this job is it’s not close enough to the house to come check on him for my break so he’s gonna have to stay in his crate 3-4 hrs longer than he’s usually used to. But I think once he sees how many treats n toys I can afford he’ll get used to it.
