A post by @Lorajay on her new promotion to the next level set me thinking. What is your "points per day (ppd) rate"?
Divide your total current points by the number of days you have been a member of agnostic.com to calculate it.
My ppd works out as 244 . (ie. An average of 244 points per day since I joined.)
What is yours?
P.S. Your ppd rate, Jo, is 77.
When I realized the point system even existed, I decided I did not want to be a point trawler. Later on I realized that my likes no longer got me points but I kept doing them anyway because they helped other people get points. That's why I ended up with so many extra points when the counter rolled over.
This site is addicting because of the people on it.I need to do my taxes and several other business projects so I hope I can slow down my addiction.
You said it for me, shan't bother commenting.
@Fernapple Oh do comment, please! I'm bored of the repetitively serious stuff that sometimes dominates this site. I understand that US politics is at a serious point and that freedom is being stifled in the bible cummerband (That's a lovely, satirical way to point out it's wider than a belt! My thanks to the member who posted that wonderful observation.)
@Fernapple Actually, analysing the admittedly limited data, I think that any score between 100 and 200 is in the "sane" participant range.
Less than 100 indicates either a busy elsewhere person, a reserved type of person or a person who is not much of a fan of this site.
200 to 500 I feel is a person with plenty of time available (retired?) and a fan of this site.
Scores over 500 indicate either a hacker-robot is trawling the site or person is someone with an addiction/dedication to this forum.
Don't know, points for me is irrelevant.
could not possibly care less, I enjoy the community here, when I no longer do I will leave.
May that not be until the grim reaper loses patience with the continual delays you cause him.
I used to calculate my PPD, haven't done it in quite a while. I have been on Ag.com for 813 days and have 573,747 points. My PPD is 701.7. That does seem high, but I do have several groups that are busy and I post several times a day. And essentially this is my social life
Why not? With the threat of Coronavirus increasing, it may soon be everybody's only category of socialising.
@Petter I heard that drinking Corona can help with the virus. Not really, but if you are at home with a beer you are not out and about with others.
@dalefvictor Here in Mojacar socialising is rife. That's why there are so many café-bars. (6 within 2 minutes walk from my house)
They are also cheap to patronise, which helps. I can have a beer for less than half of what I have to pay in England.
I have no idea and I couldn't care less. I just kept here, participating in the subjects of my interest and that's it.
Well, since you participated here, it must surely, by your own definition, be of interest?
@Petter, usually I tend to participate more on things about life in general. I like when someone has a good story to tell related to travelling or other experience they might have had. Sports and music will be something of my interest as well. Random bullshit just to get a laugh out of everyone. Although my intelligence and intellect is quite average I like also astronomy.
@Paddypereira Sure beats astrology - what's your star sign?
I do like the odd bit of random silliness and fun.
Also, never forget that humour can be a deadly weapon! (Pompous presidents, for example, can be seriously wounded when made into a figure of ridicule and laughter.) Oops! Did my serious side slip out just then?)
@Petter, if you really want to know (I don't think so but...) I'm a Taurus. So, it's appropriate for... bullshit!!! One of the characteristics is stubbornness... well, I don't know if it's because of the star sign or hereditary (runs deep in my family) but I have it in me... I think we have a lot to laugh about.
@Paddypereira Laughter is cheaper than an apple a day to keep the doctor at bay.
Inspired bullshit is fun. My astrologically mythical sign is Scorpio, and some girls have indeed remarked upon the sting in my tail, but they were probably Taurus.
522.8 ppd. It really slows down after you hit level nine. It also points to the fact I have no life!
Yep, 'cause you hit all sorts of points ceilings. Also, to go from level 9 to level 9.1, then 9.2 etc. takes 80,000 points, or something like reaching level 8 just over one and a half times.
Instead, I evaluate time spent on Agnostic.com by asking:
How did you figure out my rate of 392? Scratches head.
Bored today Petter?
I love absolutely useless items like this. Don't you?
I don't pay attention to my points unless I notice that I am at the brink of changing levels. Then I get a little interested. Sometimes I visit this site a couple times a day, and then a couple of days will pass before I come back and log in. Call me inconsistent.
Inconsistent Deb. Your ppd is 88.
I don't care about my ppd. I joined for other reasons.
I can see a lot of people when they first join (and much later, as well) are posting like morons, making inane comments just to rile people and receive points for their interactions. That sucks. If you are on here just for points, please leave.
Agreed. That's why I go weeks between visits to F.book.
What I love on this site is the easy banter, combined with interestimg links and political commentary, without gratuitous religious references.
However, I also support the points system as a means of restricting scammers. Hence, the level 7 requirement for the Senate, and the ability of group moderators to confine access to whichever level they set.
I don't know, nor care (enough to work it out) since making level 8. Once I got my shirt, and not caring about points, I've stayed about the same activity wise, and continue to enjoy myself.
One isn't supposed to care.
It's a bit of fun. Why socialise without also having enjoyment?
I see you have recently made level 8.5, half way to level 9.
I’ve just worked mine out , but I wish I hadn’t because my daily total is much too high! I’ve got 623, 854 points and I joined on 27th June 2018. You work it out for me because I don’t really want to believe the total I got!
Mr Google informs me that 606 days have elapsed since you joined. When my phone calculator divided 623854 by 606 it sputtered smoke and gasped out:-
*1029.4620462046204"
Then collapsed in shock.
Would you mind awfully if I followed suit?
@Petter My total points have gone up to 624,009 since my reply to you and I haven’t posted anything...just replied to a couple. I hadn’t really paid much attention to my points tally, but since you drew my attention to the subject I’ve compared my points total to the others In the top ten, and I actually have the 4th highest total...and the only person in the top 15 from outside the USA. I don’t think I post a lot, I just post a few songs each day in my groups and reply to other posts...nothing very dramatic...and I do have a social life in the real world too!
@Marionville Rugby posts qualify for a triple score bonus. I'm impressed at your world ranking. I slowed to an almost comlete stop between early July and late December last year, due to a lot of travelling and various medical things. Otherwise, my ppd rate would be quite a bit higher. Probably around 450 to 500.
It is quite an interesting topic to investigate, as long as it doesn't become an obsession. Apart from anything else, obsessively posting for the sake of points lowers the quality of one's posts.
@Petter I totally agree...I only post what I hope will be of interest to others.
@Marionville Of course. The whole world loves rugby, doesn't it?
@Petter Most of my posts are music related...I’m host of 3 music groups!
@Marionville Beethoven, Brahms, Grieg ..... ?
@Petter Amongst many, many others.
Well my ppd works out to 776. I have slowed down considerably and have maxed out likes a year ago (100,000) points are not really a thing for me except when I got close to leveling up. I carry my computer with me when i travel and will check this site and my email every day.
I use the phone app when not on my desktop. I'll be travelling again in 8 day's time, but only for 3 weeks. I'm driving from here to Italy and back, to watch a rugby match, but it may be cancelled now, due to the recent spread of coronavirus to Italy.
What phone app?
When I try to check Agnostic.com on my phone, it doesn't let me login, even after changing my password at their insistence.
Aggravating.
@LiterateHiker Is it an Android phone? I use Firefox to browse on my phone. Works beautifully.
Yes, my smartphone is a Samsung Android.
@LiterateHiker Do you browse with Firefox? (My phone is a Cubot_Power.)
Google, baby.
@LiterateHiker That works, but I feel safer with Mozilla Firefox. Google slurps too much data for itself.
Lol! I am only 58!
Either you have a busy life beyond the keyboard, or you are a slow, slow, typist!
Different actions have different point values. Some actions top out at a maximum point value. Check the list.
Responding to a post has one number. Posting something has a different number, and you get points for everyone who responds to your posts. I somehow made level 8 and I'm not sure how, but I'm looking for that purple t-shirt.
How do they know what color in size to send
I have almost worn mine out. It's fun to don it before touring a famous cathedral.
@Lorajay I found out I had reached level 8 when I received a message from Admin. The message asked me for my color preference and my mailing address. I was really surprised and unprepared. I think what happened is that I started posting items and not just responding to other people's posts.
236.8 using an average of 30 days per month.
Use your browser to query "how many days since (your joining date)
It will return an exact answer.
Soundslike fun. If I could only remember when I joined...is it still on here somewhere?
The exact date is on your profile info. Then query your browser with "how many days since ??" and it will return the answer. (beats working it out!!)
Also on your profile page is your current points total.
@Petter you are a very helpful guy!
@AnneWimsey Isn't that what people are supposed to be? (unless they are overly rich political figures.)
You need a few groups - mine somehow is 415.76!
My days of being a groupie are well past.
@Petter not as a groupie but a moderator.
@FrayedBear I've never been moderate. It's less fun.
77 a day and I post and I comment I guess mostly I read lol
So you're collecting 28 thousand points per year. Pity they aren't dollars, eh?
@Petter we could afford that drink in Gib!
108/day.. never really thought about it before.
It's a bit of fun though, isn't it? Yours extrapolates to around 36,000 points per year.
I hadn't ever thought of doing that before. So, I just did it and I am at 67.
Were it remuneration, you'd be on 25 thousand a year.
@Petter you got that right
Just to clarify, I've thought about my points total... just never looked at it on a per diem basis
I figure I'll die of old age before I reach the 8.0 required for a t-shirt. In the event I don't die first, then I'll ask to be buried in it
I have about 48,500 points (almost to level 8 ) so I average about 70 points per day.
I don't post or comment much because I don't spend a lot of time on this site. Mainly I just stick to posting music videos (don't get too many comments or likes on those) and memes.
I spend time enjoying the banter and also posting "observations". I like people!
Never been one to chase the gold star, I find the point system a bit of a wank. But I was surprised to find my ppd was a 'lowly' 66. All this time I thought I was one of the regulars when in fact I'm hiding in the background, disapearing into obscurity. So picture me now waving my arms in the air like I'm hailing a taxi!
Bit old fashioned, aren't you? Surely you should be frantically tapping on your phone screen trying to book an Uber self drive car!
@Petter Uber? Uber? What is this of which you speak? Actually it's years since I've caught a cab, long before Uber was around. My yamah 250cc scooter gets me everywhere I need to go. fast and cheap!
@MsDemeanour Thought you might saddle up a wallaby and save the planet
