Oooopsies....
So Van Gogh lol Gonna be hell trying to wear a mask now.
@Surfpirate He'll need the full head type ties.
Hahahaha.....
Looks good!
I'm letting mine grow longer, fuck it! I just keep trimming the bang's. Lol
So brave and talented. Just did mine today. First pass looked as if I'd been run over by a train, second pass didn't change the vote.
Well played and well done to you, you have a knack.
PS I think that there should be a warning sign to say how difficult hair is to tidy up
Nice job. I cut my own hair, as well. It didn't turn out as good as yours. The upside is that whenever I go out these days, I'm wearing a mask, so nobody knows who that guy is with a haircut that looks like Moe from The Three Stooges.
Thanks.
Hahahaha.....I won't tell on ya.....
Good job!
I trimmed my bangs and colored my hair at home. My hair is so thick, it's a pain in the neck.
It has been six weeks since I saw my hairstylist. I miss her.
I always colour mine at home....can't afford the professionals. I was just thrilled I was finally able to go to a hairdresser when I started pension, but I guess that's over with for quite a long time now.
I never appreciated my hairdresser until now.
That's pretty much my routine also. I will trim my own bangs much to the chagrin of the lady at the salon when I finally do go there which isn't very often. And I do color my own hair at home. As far as the length in the back goes, I just don't go there on my own. It can grow as long as it wants until the salons open back up.
@LiterateHiker You also did a “bang up” (get it? Wink wink) job!
Wow! Nice job!
I am not nearly so skilled. Sheesh - even trimming my split ends somehow always goes wrong. But you managed a full-on short stylish cut! Bravo!
Thanks, but my hair is very thick, & stubborn, so I can get away with a lot using my grab n hack method.
@Lilac-Jade Oh, don't downplay it! You obviously have skill.
@AmyTheBruce Nope, grab n hack......but I did it for over 30 years, so I did learn where to grab n hack.
Think of the $$$ you will save from now on!!!!!!
Yes, but I spent over 30 years cutting my hair, & when I began pesion at age 65, a hairdresser was a treat for me.
@Lilac-Jade I feel the same about pedicures.
You don't need ever pay a hairdresser again.
But, I spent over 30 years cutting my own hair, & going to the hairdresser was the treat I thought I'd earned when I began pension. No more, I guess.
i haven't shaved or cut my hair since 1994. Stays the same except for the color seems a bit faded. lol
omg so funny oh wait om whatever
Great job! I think short hair is harder to cut than long. Mine is super long and I'm tempted to try to cut it myself... It will look horrible, but I wear my hair up a lot anyway, and when it's down, well, it will definitely look like a quarantine cut, until I can get it trimmed properly.
I had hair down to my knees for many years until my shoulders decided it was too difficult to look after. It took 2 days to dry after washing because I did not use a dryer. Then I spent over 30 years cutting it, until I began pension where finally going to a hairdresser was a treat. Those days are done I guess.
@Lilac-Jade My hair is fairly fine/thin and dries in under an hour if I let the breeze dry it. I don't like my hair longer than the top to my bikini bottom, right now it's a couple of inches too long. Would take just 2 snips with the scissors, but I'll likely wait until Supercuts opens back up.
@Julie808 Mine is thick, & coarse. I hate short hair but kept it around shoulder length for years until I had chemo therapy 15 years ago. After it finally grew in, I had to keep it even shorter due to very tight scalp & headaches. As soon as it covers the back of my neck, it has to come off.
I like it.
BTW I honestly tried not to post this. Really, I did.
Thanks.
What's your secret? Ant tips. I'm intimidated by the prospect .... yet getting tired of looking like an aging hippie kid.
Mine is a grab & hack method, but with my thick hair, I can get away with lots of mistakes.
Well done. I tried using the clippers on the back of my head and considering I am an unskilled 'clipperer' operating with nothing but non professional clippers and a hand mirror, it didn't turnout too badly. Or so I thought until I asked my sister and then she told me the truth lol. (My sister is super critical so I consoled myself knowing that!) Just as a matter of interest the hair salons here in Australia were allowed to remain open.
I grab a clump of hair, cut with scissors, no mirror as I don't have 3 hands. I face down so the hair falls onto the plastic.
@Lilac-Jade Brave woman! Honestly, just by looking at your picture, your technique works so don't change a thing. lol.
@patchoullijulie Did it that way for over 30 years before starting with hairdressers, so am a little out of practise, but my hair hides a lot of mistakes.
This one below was done at the hairdresser
@Lilac-Jade Still think you did a pretty good job.
@patchoullijulie Thanks, I ain't gonna change my method. I don't have the patience to fuss.
@Lilac-Jade I know just where your coming from. Neither do I!.
@patchoullijulie If I can't do my make up to go to town in 5 minutes, it ain't gonna get done.
@Lilac-Jade IKR? Life is too short.
@patchoullijulie Yes, the faster I can get away from the bathroom, the better.
@Lilac-Jade lol I know what you mean, me too. Mirrors can lie. I will leave the house thinking ..yeah, I look ok....then when I pass a mirror somewhere else outside of the house, I realize that perhaps I don't look as 'ok' as I originally thought! Always a shock ...
@patchoullijulie Exactly. The most I go for is clean & reasonably tidy, beyond that.....meh......
Good job there. You have lovely hair, love the colour.
Thank you.
Hey, thought you might like to know how 'things' went last Sunday evening.
Whizz kid's 'device' works great, even at the lowest volume it makes the walls vibrate ( tested in my house first btw).
Did the 'voice bit with a fiarly good script,
" Hearken unto me my beloved child, I know thee hath been vilified and rejected by those whom claim to be believers, this I sayeth unto thee, go forth into the Great Desert in your land, there shalt thee stay alone for 40 of the days and 40 of the nights, then shalt thee venture forth unto the great red rock that I hath placed there awaiting my new Prophet, there shall thee wait until I sendeth forth unto thee my New Commandments for thee to bring forth to ALL Creation upon this Earth for thee, my child, are my new Messiah."
And as an 'added' I also sprayed his 'sacred' plant late Sunday evening, the reactions from the 'Voice' and the glistening red-orange plant yesterday morning were a sight to behold, Evangelidiot spent 3 hours on his knees praying and blessing God for choosing HIM as his new Messiah.
I might wait a few more days before the "Voice' asks him why he has not departed on his mission as yet.
HUH?
@Lilac-Jade Oh sorry I thought I was discussing things about my Evangelidiot neighbour with you the other day, I was wrong it seems, my apologies.
@Triphid Yeah, but this was about hair cutting, so it threw me.
HOLY SHIT!! It worked!!!
Now, do be humane and tell him to pack provisions - none of this "I, the LORD, will provide" business, okay? As obnoxious as he is, we really don't want him to die out there, right?
@Lilac-Jade No worries.
I know what I did may seem somewhat mean but it was fun anyway to tease the Evangelidiot.
@AmyTheBruce Of course I'll tell him to pack provisions and plenty of water but I might tell him that I, God, expect him to walk all the way just as his Jeebus had to.
@Triphid Make a separate post for this, maybe. I'd love to hear more, but we shouldn't hijack this discussion about hair.
@Triphid Sometimes I like mean.
@AmyTheBruce Kind of hard to talk about my hair since all I do is shave it off every day in accordance with my promise to my daughter.
Added a pic of the back, taken in the bathroom under different lighting. The first was done in the living room with proper daylight.
